Last season, many fans were looking forward to watching the Los Angeles Lakers Summer League team as it looked like one of the most loaded teams in Las Vegas. While there may not be quite as much excitement this summer, the Lakers will again have a number of players to watch this summer.
The Lakers officially announced their Summer League roster and it will be led by second-year guard D’Angelo Russell and second overall pick Brandon Ingram amongst others:
The Los Angeles Lakers announced today their roster for the 2016 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, highlighted by 2015 NBA All-Rookie Second Team selection D’Angelo Russell and the 2nd overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, Brandon Ingram. Joining Russell and Ingram are 2015 Lakers NBA Draft selections Larry Nance Jr. and Anthony Brown, and the team’s 2016 second round pick Ivica Zubac.
Russell and Ingram will surely have the most eyes on them. Fans will be expecting Russell to look much improved from last season and have a dominant performance. Likewise, Ingram will be expected to show why he was the second overall pick. But there are plenty of other players to watch as well.
Nance played a significant role for the Lakers last year, and it will be nice to see whether he has improved his jump shot. Anthony Brown wasn’t able to show much last season, but still holds plenty of potential as a ‘3-and-D’ guy.
This year’s second-round pick Ivica Zubac has a lot of potential and no one is quite sure what to expect from him, but the Lakers have done well with their later picks in recent years. Former Laker Jabari Brown, who almost made the roster last year, will be returning as well.
The team will be coached by assistant Jesse Mermuys and the Lakers’ first Summer League game will take place on July 9 in Las Vegas. Check out the official roster below:
