The Los Angeles Lakers selected Brandon Ingram with their second pick in the 2016 NBA draft on Thursday evening, falling in line with what everyone anticipated on draft night. The Lakers were not only quite impressed with Ingram after his draft workout, but also with getting to know him over two dinner outings, one of which included the Lakers young core of D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance, Jr. and Anthony Brown.

In the phone interview above, Ingram chats with the L.A. media moments after hearing his name called at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Ingram talks about having a chip on his shoulder to prove all the doubters wrong, especially those critquing his thin frame.

Ingram also envisions what it will be like to play alongside the Lakers young core and what he’s hoping to bring to the purple and gold. It’s all in our phone interview above. If you missed the interview with the Lakers 32nd pick, Ivica Zubac, head here.
