Los Angeles did have a chance to steal a victory in Charlotte, but they were unable to make plays in the final minutes. In addition, the team came out flat in the third quarter and that ultimately proved to be crucial in the loss. Coach Byron Scott spoke to the media after the game and talked about the 104-103 loss, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Although the Hornets only outscored the Lakers by four in the quarter, they established momentum and got control of the tempo. The Lakers were certainly lacking energy coming out of the break and the Hornets were able to take advantage.

The Lakers now stand at 16-43 and have a tough schedule ahead of them, including matches against the Grizzlies and Mavericks. With the season coming to an end, the franchise is looking to develop their young prospects while focusing on the NBA Draft and free agency.
