Now that the NBA Draft Lottery is over and the Los Angeles Lakers know that they will keep their pick, the summer is really going to start kicking into high gear. Prospect workouts are set to begin until the draft next month, which will be followed by free agency on July 1.

The Lakers will be major players in both the draft and free agency as they have only four players under guaranteed contracts for next season. In an interview with CBS Sports’ Jim Rome, Byron Scott said he wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of new players on the roster next year via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Change is definitely on the horizon this off-season and the Lakers have the means to make it happen. The Lakers are armed with three draft picks, though general manager Mitch Kupchak noted that it could be difficult to bring in three rookies.

The Lakers also have around $28 million in projected salary cap room and have been mentioned as potential destinations for players like Kevin Love and DeMarre Carroll.

Kupchak has always said that the Lakers will explore every avenue to improve the team and recently said that the Lakers don’t have the time to build strictly through the draft. Free agency and possibly trades will play a role in this Lakers’ off-season and that will lead to a drastically different roster next year.
