With the start of NBA free agency only a few days away, teams around the league are gearing up for what will be an interesting period of wheeling and dealing. Although all the attention will be on star players like Kevin Durant, Hassan Whiteside, DeMar DeRozan, and Mike Conley, a few other veterans players are looking to cash in due to the recent salary cap bump.

Chandler Parsons of the Dallas Mavericks is one of those veterans set to become an unrestricted free agent that will be more than willing to listen to offers this summer. With the Mavericks focusing their efforts on signing Conley and Whiteside in free agency, Parsons is looking forward to exploring his options, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN:

Parsons eagerly anticipates exploring his options in free agency as the Mavericks plan to prioritize other targets, sources told ESPN, although a return to Dallas remains a possibility.

“He’ll be all ears,” one source said.

The Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams expected to reach out to Parsons this summer. Parsons would help improve the squad, even though the team addressed the void at small forward by drafting Duke’s Brandon Ingram earlier this week.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando Magic are also interested in his services, according to Mike Leslie of WFAA Sports:

Parsons will be pursued by the Orlando Magic, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Los Angeles Lakers, the source says, once free agency opens up on July 1st.

Despite being a solid option to help spread the floor, Parsons has struggled to stay on the court over the past few years. The 27-year-old forward had season-ending knee surgery the last two seasons in Dallas, which is a major concern for any interested teams in free agency.

Chandler Parsons may become a backup option for the Lakers if they can’t secure a deal with some of the big names they’re expected to pursue like Durant, Whiteside, DeRozan, and Horford.
