D-Fenders News: D-Fenders Defeat Charge In First Of Two Game Series

On Friday night, the Los Angeles D-Fenders claimed a wire-to-wire win, defeating the Canton Charge 125-111 in their first meeting of a two-game series.

The D-Fenders started off highly dominant getting off to a 21-5 run in the first quarter. They shot 56 percent during this quarter including eight three-point field goals. The offensive energy continued into the second. At one point during the second quarter, Los Angeles had a lead as large as a 26 points. In the first half altogether, the D-Fenders shot 56.5 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from the three-point line.

Although the D-Fenders were not as offensively dominant in the second half, they still never gave up their lead. Los Angeles forced the Charge into eight turnovers in the third. Going into the final quarter, Canton had cut the lead to as little as eight but were not able to make anything of the shortened deficit, allowing the D-Fenders to grab their 24th win of the season.

One of the top performers of the night was Josh Magette who got the double-double with 11 points and 14 assists. Additional contributors included Brandon Costner with 24 points, Shawne Williams with 23 points, James Southerland with 20 points.

The D-Fenders look for their second consecutive win against the Canton Charge on Saturday.
