The Los Angeles Lakers are hoping they can get Dwight Howard on the court for the first time Sunday, and make his debut with the team. Although it will only be a pre-season game, everyone is looking forward to seeing Howard in the purple-and-gold.

Howard is now an NBA veteran and he has established himself as the best center in the league. Nevertheless, even the dynamic center admits he will be nervous when playing his first game with the Lakers. Howard spoke to the Los Angeles Times and the center discussed what he expects during his Lakers debut.

“I think I’ll be a little nervous out there for the first time, but (Steve Nash) said he would help me through it and hopefully it will be OK,” said Howard.

The Lakers are 0-5 in the preseason, something not many people had expected. However, several of the stars have sat out games and Howard has been absent for all five games.

If Howard ends up playing on Sunday in the sixth preseason game, that losing streak may come to an end. Fans will finally get their chance to see the new center take the court and the Kobe Bryant/Dwight Howard era will begin. It will likely take some time for all the stars to get accustomed to each other, but it’s the preseason that will provide the opportunity to form the right chemistry.
