Just two years ago, the Los Angeles Lakers believed they had their superstar of the future when they traded for center Dwight Howard. As everyone now knows, the partnership didn’t quite work and Howard left after one season to join the Houston Rockets.

In the season opener between the Rockets and Lakers, Howard got into an altercation with former teammate Kobe Bryant. Despite that, Howard said he was sad when hearing of Kobe’s recent torn rotator cuff according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News:

Howard’s teammate and current MVP candidate, James Harden also spoke on Kobe, calling him his favorite player:

As Howard stated, Kobe has seen injury after injury in the last couple of seasons. First, it was the torn Achilles, which was followed by a fractured knee cap the following season, and now the rotator cuff this year.

There has been no official word as to whether Bryant will be out for the remainder of the season as he will do research and decide whether or not he needs to have surgery.

Howard has had his own injury issues this season. He has missed 12 games already, and is unlikely to suit up when the Rockets play the Lakers at Staples Center.
