Superstar center Dwight Howard is currently working on rehabbing his surgically repaired back in able to get back on the basketball floor as soon as possible for his debut with the Los Angeles Lakers, but in the meantime he’s making an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Howard is scheduled to appear on the daytime talk show on Thursday, Sept. 27. The show will be aired at 4 p.m. PT on NBC with movie star Jennifer Garner also making an appearance.

Besides the recent interview with Ric Bucher for ESPN’s Sunday Conversation, this will be Howard’s first interview to talk about the move to the Lakers in front of an audience. This will also be the first public appearance on a show in Los Angeles for Howard aside from the appearance at MTV’s Video Music Awards at the Staples Center a few weeks ago.

Along with showing his face around Los Angeles before making his debut in purple and gold, Howard also recently lent his voice to cartoon. Howard played the role of Rock Callahan for Disney XD’s “Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil” with Tony Reali of Around the Horn who played the villain, The Dark One.

Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash has also been showing his face around Tinseltown as of late by making an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” with avid Lakers fan Justin Timberlake.

It appears the two superstar additions to the Lakers are settling into their new surrounding rather nicely, and making an effort to introduce themselves to the fans in Los Angeles. Hopefully, these two will be able to be on the court together in the coming weeks with training camp beginning on Oct. 2 and the regular season getting underway for the Lakers on Oct. 30.

Howard’s playing status is still uncertain with no timetable set for his return and has already been ruled out of the first preseason game for the Lakers on Oct. 7 against the Golden State Warriors. It’s still possible that he’d be back in time for the beginning of the regular season if his rehab continues to go well.
