GM Survey: James Harden Voted As Top Shooting Guard In NBA Over Kobe

What-do-you-think-the-Mamba-told-the-Beard-Getty-ImagesIn this year’s annual survey taken by NBA general managers, the Miami Heat along with their star LeBron James scored fairly well in the majority of the categories that they were involved. As for the categories that the Lakers were mentioned in, they didn’t necessarily perform well, likely due to the let down of last season paired with the loss of Dwight Howard.

One poll question that should certainly trigger a response from Lakers fans worldwide is: who is the best shooting guard in the NBA? For some years now, Kobe Bryant has undoubtedly won this category, winning 66.7 percent of the vote as recent as last season.

Kobe has been a peak performer at the shooting guard position since the early 2000s, and naturally continued the standard that Michael Jordan set at the position.

This year, Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden was voted ahead of Bryant. This marks the first time in the survey’s history that Bryant was not selected as the best shooting guard. Harden’s impressive 2012-2013 season is likely the reason for this, and not to mention the fact that their is a lot of concern about how Kobe is going to return from surgery his torn Achilles. Here’s the tally.

1. James Hardent, Houston Rockets — 56.7%
2. Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers — 20.0%
3. Stephen Curry, Golden State; Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City; Paul George, Indiana — 6.7%
6. Dwyane Wade, Miami — 3.3%
