‘Jellybean’ Joe Bryant to become Head Coach of the Los Angeles Sparks

The struggling Los Angeles Sparks have announced that they will replace head coach Jennifer Gillom with assistant coach Joe Bryant.

The Sparks made the announcement after slipping in the Western Conference standings of the WNBA. Bryant is the father of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant.

Joe Bryant was the head coach of the Sparks from 2005 to 2006 before the team hired Gillom.

Bryant is also a former NBA player, spending the majority of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers. He also spent time with the San Diego Clippers and Houston Rockets before taking his talents (and young Kobe) overseas to play in Europe.
