The Washington Wizards have become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference. John Wall and Bradley Beal form a potent duo in Washington with Otto Porter Jr., Markieff Morris, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Marcin Gortat rounding out a formidable supporting cast.

Although the Wizards are on the rise in the East, the up-and-coming Washington could use some more firepower off the bench. Wall, who is having a career year, believes the Wizards will make a deal before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 23, via J. Michael of CSNMidAtlantic.com:

“I think so,” Wall said when asked if he expected president Ernie Grunfeld to make a move as he has done the last several years, and the most recent being for Markieff Morris. “We’re looking at some options to help our bench out. Other than that I don’t know. I haven’t talked to him about it.”

Lou Williams, who currently leads the Los Angeles Lakers in scoring at 18.6 points per game, has been a player linked to the Wizards as of late. Washington is rumored to be interested in Williams and could be aggressive in their pursuit of the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year.

Williams fits the bill for many playoff bound teams right now. The 30-year-old guard may be playing on a team that has only won 19 games and is on pace to miss the postseason, but his game hasn’t changed as he continues to play at a high level night in and night out for Los Angeles.

With only a few days left before the NBA trade deadline, Washington could ramp up their efforts to land a player like Williams while the Lakers continue to consider deals that either bolster the roster or add draft picks.
