Coming into the NBA as a rookie is a lot of pressure. Coming to the Los Angeles Lakers as a rookie brings more pressure than any other organization in the NBA.

The Lakers are a team that expects championships on a yearly basis. Re-building is something that the team rarely does, and when they do, it doesn’t last long. While most rookies may have individual goals such as winning Rookie of the Year, Randle shared his goals in his introductory press conference according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell:

Randle grew up a Lakers fan, so he knows what the fans expect from the team. But it says a lot that he made no mention of any sort of individual goals, choosing only to focus on the team. He gives off the feeling that he will do anything he can that will benefit the team.

These are the things fans like to hear from a rookie, and Randle has a lot of potential to fulfill. He is a powerful big man who excels on the block, and is an excellent rebounder. He also has the ability to step out on the perimeter and hit jumpers.

Someone with the work ethic that Randle possesses is sure to fulfill all of the goals he has. And having Kobe Bryant right behind him, pushing him all the time is sure to help as well.
