On Sunday afternoon, Kobe Bryant officially announced the end of a Lakers era, that he would retire at the end of the 2015-16 season, after 20 years of playing for Los Angeles. Following the loss to the Pacers at Staples Center, Bryant took to the podium to explain his decision, why now and what it means for the rest of the season. His press conference can be watched below.

Head coach Byron Scott, who developed a relationship with him two decades ago during his rookie season, also reacts to the news, which caught him by surprise. Scott admits the news saddens him, and reflects on what Bryant has meant to him.

Additionally, general manager Mitch Kupchak, though not at all surprised by Bryant’s decision, discusses what might have prompted him to announce his plan at this particular time. It’s all in our videos below.
