The Los Angeles Lakers grabbed a key victory in their playoff run last night in Portland, to keep sole possession of the eight seed in the Western Conference.

Kobe Bryant had one of the best games of the season against the Blazers as he recorded in 47 points, eight rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals. The Lakers faced an early deficit, but thanks to the efforts from Bryant and his teammates, they were able to steal the win at the Rose Garden.

Bryant played all 48 minutes in the game and it was clear that he was not going to let the Lakers lose the game. Entering the night, Los Angeles held a half game lead over the Jazz, but a loss to the Blazers would have knocked them down to the ninth seed. Despite having an incredible performance Bryant told ESPN that he will still give it his all for the Lakers to make the postseason.

“We’ve got no breathing room at all,” Bryant said. “I’m still on edge. We’ve got to win three more games and we’re in.”

The Lakers will play their final three games of the season at Staples Center, something that will surely benefit a team fighting for its playoff life. Los Angeles will be back in action on Friday night for a game against the Golden State Warriors, while the Jazz will be hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Los Angeles leads the season series against the Warriors, 2-1, but suffered a 109-103 loss the last time they met.
