Heading into the third preseason game for the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, Steve Nash was expected to miss the game after re-injuring himself carrying some bags on Wednesday. Right before game time, Nash surprising let the coaching staff know that he was going to go through warmups in an attempt to play against the Utah Jazz.

Unfortunately, Nash went through warmups and still didn’t feel right forcing him to miss another preseason game.

Following the loss to the Jazz at the Honda Center, Kobe Bryant talked to the media and was asked about his teammate’s health. Kobe expressed concern about the 40-year-old saying the following, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

After two injury-plagued seasons in Los Angeles, no one knew what to expect from Nash heading into training camp. Nash did receive some promising reviews from the media and coaching staff that had witnessed the veteran playing in scrimmages at the Lakers practice facility, but it is all about sustainability and so far it just hasn’t been there.

With injuries already proving to be a problem for Nash, there’s no telling how much he’ll be able to contribute to the team this season. The two-time NBA MVP keeps his body in the best shape possible for a player at his advanced age to continue to produce on the NBA level, but it doesn’t look good for the future Hall of Famer moving forward.
