The Los Angeles Lakers lost a heartbreaker Sunday night at Staples Center as the team was unable to knock off the Denver Nuggets in overtime. Despite a last second look by Kobe Bryant in regulation, the Lakers ended up scoring just eight points in the extra period and eventually lost by the final score of 101-94.

Overall, the Lakers did not have a great shooting performance and the offense struggled to put up points. At the end of the night, Los Angeles managed to shoot just 37 percent from the field and only connected on three of its 24 three-point shot attempts. As for the backcourt of Bryant and Jeremy Lin, the two guards combined for 44 points and Bryant spoke about their cohesiveness after the game, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Although Kobe and Lin are still figuring out each other’s style, the two are starting to develop nice chemistry on the court. Earlier this season that bond did not seem to be there, but as the season progresses the two are beginning to get on the same page. In order for the Lakers to advance as team and possibly make a push for the postseason, the team will need to have their starting backcourt in sync.

Los Angeles now stands at 3-11 and will need to string together several wins in a row to stay competitive in the Western Conference. The team will be back on the court Wednesday night for another matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Lakers lost a nail-bitter in Memphis not too long away, but hopefully the Staples Center crowd will put them over the top this time around.
