Kobe 2010-2011

Coming into this season, it is well known that Kobe Bryant plans on adjusting his game to compensate for his diminishing athleticism and two leg injuries suffered over the last two seasons.

Bryant’s footwork has long been lauded as some of the best in the NBA and that makes Kobe extremely difficult to deal with in the post. Head coach Byron Scott recognizes this and wants Kobe to operate in that area according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell:

This move makes sense on numerous levels as it allows Bryant to work from a comfortable area. It will also take advantage of Bryant’s passing ability as he could force double teams from that area.

Also of note is that Carlos Boozer excels from the free throw line and can make 15-foot jumpers with ease. His ability to work from that area makes it easy for Bryant to go down low.

The Lakers will need a number of players to step up offensively, especially with Nick Young being out for a while with a torn ligament in his thumb. Getting Kobe the ball, especially on the post where he is so dominant, is a great first option for the Lakers every time down the floor.
