D’Angelo Russell scored a career-high 17 points to go along with his five rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers 102-91 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, knocking down three triples in the process. Julius Randle also notched his third double-double of the season with a team-high 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant took on more of a facilitator role on Friday night, finishing with five assists to go along with his 10 points on a 5-of-13 clip, but it was his 37 minutes that were the hot topic of conversation.

In the post-game videos below, both Bryant and Byron Scott defend the heavy minute workload. Plus, Bryant gives some very interesting quotes on what he’s trying to teach this young core and why it’s important for him not to focus on himself individually. And, Russell discusses what’s different when Bryant is out on the floor.
