Kobe Scores Into Seventh Place on the All-Time Scoring List

Congratulations to Kobe Bryant for passing hall-of-famer Elvin Hayes to take control of the seventh spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Hayes finished his 16-year career with 27,313 points with the San Diego/Houston Rockets and the Washington Bullets.

Facing off against one of the youngest, yet most challenging teams in the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder – Kobe Bryant came into the matchup needing only 11 points to pass Hayes. Bryant passed Hayes in the fourth quarter on a banked jumper in traffic, and finished the game with 17 points.

Moses Malone is next up on the list for Kobe to pass, having scored 27,409 points during his NBA career. If Bryant continues on his current pace he should pass Malone in several weeks.

Bryant, who is coming off another MVP performance at last weekend’s All-Star Game, has led the Lakers to three consecutive wins since the break and has them back on track after a roller coaster first half of the season. They won their fourth straight game this afternoon, defeating the powerful Oklahoma City Thunder.
