Lakers Draft News: L.A. Looking To ‘Bring In’ Expected No. 1 Overall Pick Markelle Fultz

Nba Draft News: Celtics Schedule Workout With Markelle Fultz

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the process of holding several workouts at their training facility ahead of the 2017 NBA Draft, which is being held Thursday, June 22.

In addition to holding the No. 2 pick, the Lakers have a late first-round selection (No. 28 overall). This marks the third straight year the Lakers are selecting the second player in the NBA Draft.

Naturally, that’s come with plenty of intrigue. Their most prominent workout to date was this week when UCLA’s Lonzo Ball got his opportunity to take the court the day after meeting and dining with Lakers brass.

Although he may be off the board by the time the Lakers are on the clock, the team is said to be interested in hosting Washington’s Markelle Fultz in some capacity, according to
Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet:

The Lakers met with Fultz during last month’s NBA Draft combine. He’s widely expected to be drafted No. 1 overall by the Boston Celtics. They’re the only team he’s worked out for thus far, though recent indications are Fultz may hold a workout in the coming days with the Sacramento Kings, who hold the Nos. 5 and 10 picks.

Considering Fultz would be unlikely to drop beyond the top two selections in the draft, an anticipated workout with the Kings has sparked trade speculation.

In addition to Ball and Fultz, Los Angeles is said to have interest in guard/forward Josh Jackson more so than Kentucky point guard De’Aaron Fox.
