The Los Angeles Lakers worked out Jabari Bird, Devin Robinson, James Blackmon Jr., Tyler Cavanaugh, Isaiah Hicks, and Michael Smith on Friday morning in preparation for the 2017 NBA draft.

Bird (guard, 6’6, 190 lbs., Cal) had everyone cheering after he tied the current record for most points scored in the individual shooting drill that the Lakers have used to end every workout. Bird finished his collegiate career ranked fifth in Cal history for career 3FG (187) and fourth for career 3FGA (50).

Robinson (forward, 6’8, 195 lbs., Florida) is projected on most draft boards in the second round. In his three seasons at Florida, he appeared in 105 games (70 starts), averaging 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Blackmon Jr. (guard, 6-4, 195 lbs., Indiana) was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection in 2015 and 2017. As a junior, he was third in conference in 3FGM (91), fourth in points (17.0) and sixth in FG% (.477).

Cavanaugh (forward, 6’9, 243 lbs., George Washington) was an All-Atlantic 10 Second Team pick in 2017, averaging 15.5 points per game and 8.0 rebounds, while shooting 47.6 FG% in his two season at George Washington.

Hicks (forward, 6’9, 242 lbs., North Carolina) appeared in 151 games (45 starts) for UNC, tallying career averages of 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. Hicks was also the ACC Sixth Man of the Year in 2016 after becoming one of only four Tar Heels ever to shoot 60 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line in a season.

Smith (guard, 6’4, 195 lbs., California Baptist) was named All-PacWest Player of the Year, NABC Division II All-America Team and All-PacWest First team selection in back-to-back years from 2016 to 2017.
