Lakers Injury News: Jordan Farmar Out For At Least Two Weeks

For some odd reason the Los Angeles Lakers simply cannot stay healthy this season. No player has played in every game this season and the Lakers lead the NBA in games missed by a wide margin.

Already without Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and Nick Young, the Lakers backcourt took another hit yesterday.

Jordan Farmar appeared to injure his groin during Lakers practice on Monday. After being evaluated on Tuesday, it was confirmed that Farmar will be forced to miss some time according to Lakers Reporter Mike Trudell:

Farmar had already missed significant time due to tearing his hamstring twice at the beginning of the season. However, Farmar had been a huge spark off the bench for the Lakers lately, averaging 12.5 points and 4.4 assists while shooting 54 percent from three-point range since the All-Star break.

With staring point guard Kendall Marshall struggling to find his shot, many expected it to be just a matter of time before Farmar made the jump to the starting lineup.

While Nash had been ruled out for the season by Mike D’Antoni earlier this month, it appears there may be a chance he plays again.

According to ESPN Los Angeles writer Dave McMenamin, D’Antoni would not comment on the possibility of Nash playing:

With both Nash and Farmar out, as well as Young, expect heavy minutes from Marshall and even a possibility of Xavier Henry seeing some time at point. With the Lakers already missing an NBA high 241 games to injury as well as being eliminated from playoff contention, the team should turn their attention to getting everybody healthy for next season.
