Lakers Nation News And Rumors Recap: Buss Family Drama Continues

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind for Lakers fans. The team finally moved on from Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak, replacing them with Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka respectively. It finally seemed like the storied franchise was turning the page on a dismal past few years, and looking toward a brighter future.

The hiring of Magic and Pelinka didn’t guarantee anything, but it showed that controlling owner Jeanie Buss wasn’t going to continue to stand by as the Lakers continued their downward spiral to the NBA’s basement. It finally seemed like the Lakers were ready to move on from the off-court drama that has surrounded the franchise since the death of the great Jerry Buss.

However, after Jim and Johnny Buss reportedly tried to remove Jeanie as controlling owner, it seems like the drama is just getting started. All six Buss siblings are part of the ownership group that controls 66% of the Lakers franchise, with Jeanie being the controlling owner.

While Jeanie may have won the first round against her brothers, Jim and Johnny don’t seem to be going away quietly. Things could get ugly in the coming months.
