Lakers Nation News And Rumors Recap: L.A. Open To Making Moves Before Trade Deadline
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

As the NBA Trade Deadline quickly approaches, the Lakers are reportedly open to trades. The team has several pieces that could ideally be moved, including Lou Williams and Timofey Mozgov. With their own first round draft pick in danger of being lost, the Lakers should prioritize landing a first round pick in this loaded draft class.

As the season has progressed, the contracts of Mozgov and Luol Deng have continued to look worse and worse. With head coach Luke Walton embracing the youth movement, both veterans were recently replaced in the starting lineup.

Both contracts are extremely hard to move and it’s extremely unlikely either is moved before the deadline. At this point the Lakers will most likely have to absorb both contracts and hope they can trade either in their final year.

Although the Lakers have several young options to trade, there is no “superstar” currently available for the team to risk giving up their young core. Expect the team to stay quiet at the deadline, especially if they are unable to move Williams.
