During the Lakers’ collapse against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, both Jordan Clarkson and Tarik Black suffered ankle injuries. The Lakers are in the midst of a four game losing streak, and the loss of two more rotation players couldn’t come at a worse time.
When healthy, the Lakers have been one of the most surprising teams in the NBA. However, the team has been plagued by injuries all season. D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr., and Tarik Black have all missed substantial time.
Both Clarkson and Black continually said they were “fine” after the game, but the team has listed both as “questionable” for tomorrow’s game against the Nuggets. With Nance already out, the Lakers would be thin in the front court if Black is unable to go.
After a rough stretch of games in December and early January, the Lakers schedule is about to lighten up. Over the next month, the Lakers play only four teams over .500 (the Pacers, Jazz, Wizards, and Celtics) and nine under .500. Despite sitting 15 games under .500, the Lakers have a chance to make a serious push for the playoffs over the next month.
