Lakers News And Rumors Recap: Kevin Love Rumors Continue

Lakers Rumors: Kevin Love Favoring Los Angeles Lakers In Free Agency?
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports[/caption]With the NBA trade deadline (Feb.20) drawing near and the Los Angeles Lakers in the midst of major slump, the talk has shifted from competing for a playoff spot in the Western Conference this season to setting up the future of the storied franchise.

One big name that continues to get mentioned as a potential target for the Lakers is perennial All-Star Kevin Love. Although the trade rumors will continue to circulate involving Love to the Lakers, the more realistic option for the team to acquire the veteran forward is in free agency in 2015.

Love has become increasingly frustrated with the Minnesota Timberwolves and for good reason. Minnesota has tried to build around Love for the last few years, but simply can’t seem to put the right pieces together in order to make the Timberwolves a legitimate playoff contender in the West.

Fortunately for Love, the forward can become a free agent in the summer of 2015 and appears to have the Lakers and New York Knicks at the top of his list of potential destinations.

Along with Love, big-names like LaMarcus Aldridge, Rajon Rondo and Kyrie Irving might also be testing the market in 2015. The Lakers will likely be major players in free agency that summer with some of these big-names possibly headed to Los Angeles.
