After falling to 1-3, the Los Angeles Lakers have won three straight games and now sit above .500. The team has taken drastic steps forward. Last season, the Lakers did not win their fourth game until mid December.
Such a turnaround, coupled with a convincing win over the Warriors, the presumed best team in the NBA, can easily get to a team’s head. However, the Lakers are determined not to let that happen. Players such as Larry Nance Jr. have not forgotten about the 17-win season they just endured.
After enduring a difficult early season road trip, the Lakers schedule is set to soften up. Their next five games are against the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Brooklyn Nets. Those teams are a combined 7-25 on the season.
The Lakers have a good chance of emerging several games above .500 after that stretch. While success like that would be tremendous, it’s important for the Lakers to focus on improving from game to game instead of getting caught up with wins and losses.
