The Lakers are without their starting point guard Steve Nash for at least two weeks. Normally Mitch Kupchak would spring into action and work his magic to pull off a miracle trade to make the Lakers contenders once again, but this time it’s a little different. They don’t have anymore draft picks to send away for quite awhile thanks to Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. Also, the current point guards are playing just fine for the Lakers as evident in last nights victory to the Pelicans.

Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar ran the Lakers offense beautifully last night with a collective 18 assists among the both of them. The Lakers brought Farmar back from Europe for a reason and don’t need to spend anymore of their bank on another point guard. With more playing time for these two guards, we have seen their confidence rise and bring their game to the next level. Jordan Farmar has displayed beautiful floaters and Steve Blake with controlled bounce passes and game winning three’s.

Despite D’antonti using six different starting line ups this season, this Laker team at times have looked great. If Mike D’antoni can find the winning formula to keep the Lakers looking that way during the times they played the Rockets, Clippers, or Pelicans then maybe the Lakers can start a new streak of selling out Staples.
