Even though Bryant has been harsh on his teammates, he was a captain that guided the Lakers to two recent NBA championships. However, with Kobe now sidelined due to an Achilles injury, other Lakers players have taken the leadership role. Metta World Peace is someone who is inspiring the Lakers during this tough time and the New York Times talked about the influence he is having in the locker room.

Antawn Jamison spoke about World Peace and his role on the team, expressing how much of a positive effect he has had.

“Positive all the time,” Jamison said. “He makes sure everybody is accounted for and everybody is appreciated.”

“Just an unbelievable teammate,” Jamison said. “All he does is compete.”

World Peace recently returned from his meniscus injury and the Lakers have gone 4-0 since he came back into the lineup. Not only has World Peace been a leader for the Lakers in the final stretch of the regular season, but has also been performing at a high level.

The Lakers will play their final game of the regular season tonight and they can clinch the seventh seed with a win over the Houston Rockets. Although Los Angeles will not have Bryant in the lineup, this team has proven that it can win without the services of the future Hall of Famer.
