Lakers News: Antawn Jamison Undergoes Successful Wrist Surgery

It was a season full of injuries for the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Lakers kicked off their second day of exit interviews and their second day of their 2013 offseason, one player already underwent surgery.

The Lakers tweeted the latest health update on Antawn Jamison in the early afternoon on Tuesday.

Jamison did not attend his exit interview, which was supposed to occur yesterday, and it was announced by the Lakers that because of his schedule surgery on his wrist Tuesday morning, he would not do an exit interview.

It is not certain if the Lakers will offer another contract to the veteran, as his will once again be a free agent this summer. To see Lakers Nation’s evaluation and season grade for Jamison, click here.

[showhide type=”pressrelease”]Lakers forward Antawn Jamison underwent successful surgery on his injured right wrist, it was announced today. The procedure was performed in Los Angeles by hand specialist Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.  Jamison is expected to make a full recovery by the start of next season. Jamison, who originally injured the wrist during the second half of a home game against the Washington Wizards on March 22, was diagnosed with a ruptured scapholunate ligament but continued to play despite the injury, appearing in all of the Lakers’ remaining games. In 76 games (6 starts) this season with the Lakers, Jamison averaged 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in 21.5 minutes, posted five double-doubles and scored in double-figures 35 times including a season-high 33-point, 12-rebound game November 30 vs. Denver.[/showhide]
