Brandon Ingram Talks Plans With Kobe Bryant & Magic Johnson Taking Over
Over the last few days there has been a ton of rumors surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers, but one of the first involved the team potentially trading for center DeMarcus Cousins.

Even though Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak were fighting for their jobs in trying to get a deal worked out, they refused to part with rookie Brandon Ingram in the trade, effectively ending talks. Cousins was ultimately dealt to the New Orleans Pelicans.

In his first comments following the reported talks, Ingram said that he appreciated the Lakers believing in his potential, via Mark Medina of the LA Daily News:

The potential of Ingram is undeniable as he has all of the tools to eventually become a star in the NBA. Potential is a dangerous thing however and Ingram reaching the star level of DeMarcus Cousins is something of a long shot as Cousins is one of the most talented players in the league and a multiple time All-Star.

The Lakers have also been mentioned as a potential suitor for Paul George of the Indiana Pacers as well and the Pacers would surely inquire about Ingram. The seriousness of any George trade rumors is up in the air, however, as most believe the Pacers aren’t seriously considering dealing him.

When Ingram was drafted, it was well known that he was far away from reaching his potential as his body needs to develop, but the Lakers seem to believe in his ability and work ethic. The team has high hopes, and Ingram plans on delivering on them.
