Lakers News: Dwight Buycks Fractures Finger; Out For Season

Dwight Buycks

The injury bug has found its home in Los Angeles, and the Lakers just cannot seem to keep their players healthy. The season began with a devastating setback to Steve Nash and fans were given a heartbreaking hit when Kobe Bryant tore his rotator cuff.

Last night against the Dallas Mavericks, Dwight Buycks fractured his third metacarpal and he is also out for the season, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters. Buycks recently joined the Lakers on a 10-day contract and he was expecting to sign a two-year deal with the team. This is horrible news for a promising young player the Lakers wanted to keep for their rebuilding process:

The Lakers have just two games remaining on the schedule with both of them coming against the Sacramento Kings. This season has been a horrible one to follow for fans, and everyone is just waiting for the off-season to begin. The front office is looking to reload the roster with talent, with the first major event being the NBA Draft Lottery in May.

The franchise has dealt with a plethora of injuries as Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Julius Randle, Xavier Henry, Jeremy Lin, Wayne Ellington, Ronnie Price, Nick Young and now Dwight Buycks have been sidelined for the remainder of the season. Even though this current makeup of the Lakers probably would not make the playoffs, it is unfortunate that fans could not see this roster at full strength.
