One of the biggest flaws for the Los Angeles Lakers last season was on the defensive end of the basketball floor. Even though the Lakers had arguably the best defender in the NBA in Dwight Howard, the team struggled to contain opposing teams on a nightly basis.
Fortunately, the team is moving on with some younger talent on the cheap next season with two-time NBA champion Jordan Farmar being one of the few players willing to come back to Los Angeles at a discount.

While Farmar spent time overseas in Israel and Turkey, the veteran point guard said during his introductory press conference that he focused on the defensive end of the basketball floor:
“Defense is a will thing.”
With Farmar working on his game on the defensive end of the floor, the Lakers may actually get a defensive presence off the bench. Farmar proved to be an offensive threat averaging 7.2 points per game while shooting 37.6 percent from beyond the arc in his last year with the Lakers.
During his short stint with the New Jersey Nets, Farmar saw increased numbers across the board with 9.6 points per game in his first and 10.4 (career-high) in his second. Farmar also averaged a career-high from beyond the arc at 44 percent, but only played in 39 games.
