Los Angeles Lakers forward Julius Randle has been on an absolute tear over the last couple of months. Since the All-Star break he has averaged 21.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while shooting 57.9 percent from the field.

Randle has turned into the Lakers’ most consistent player and is finally beginning to realize his vast potential. It has certainly come at the right time as Randle is a restricted free agent this summer and will definitely be looking towards a nice pay raise.

On Monday night the Lakers ended their four-game road trip with a tough loss against the Detroit Pistons. Despite some struggles early on with foul trouble, Randle once again led the Lakers with 23 points and 11 rebounds, his eighth straight game with at least 20 points and nine rebounds.

That is the longest such active streak in the NBA. Additionally, Randle joined Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins as the only players with streaks of at least eight games this season with 20 points and nine rebunds.

Anytime you can be mentioned in that kind of company it is a great thing. All three players are All-Stars, with both Davis and Antetokounmpo being likely All-NBA First Team selections and Cousins only being done in by a torn Achilles earlier this season.

Randle has shown over the last couple of months that he is capable of taking things to another level and should be a part of the Lakers’ future plans. Statistics and production like this will certainly make it difficult for the team to lose the restricted free agent this summer.

The Lakers as a team has made major strides in their development. But no one on the team, and very few around the league, has made the individual leap that Randle has this season.
