According to Los Angeles Lakers reporter and Time Warner Cable SportsNet sideline reporter Mike Trudell, Kobe Bryant has gone out of the country to have a medical procedure unrelated to his Achilles.

This isn’t the first time Byrant has left the country for a medical procedure. In July of 2011, Bryant left for Germany to have an operation on his knee. The operation was called a platelet-rich plasma therapy and the following season, he averaged 27 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. There’s no telling when we will find out what Bryant had worked on, but he’s expected to be back with the team some time next week. UPDATE: (1:06 p.m.) According to Mike Bresnahan, the procedure was planned and comes as no surprise to the team. And according to Kevin Ding, head coach Mike D’Antoni has no concerns about the procedure.
