Five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant has been named Western Conference Player of the Week according Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times:

Although Kobe is done for the year due to a torn Achilles, the superstar guard had another week filled with stellar performances on a nightly basis. Kobe’s best performance came one NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriorsgame before going down with the season-ending injury against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.

Despite the Lakers always struggling at the Rose Garden, Kobe willed the Lakers to a much-needed victory over the Blazers with a season-high 47 points. Kobe also recorded four steals and three blocks in the win over Portland.

With only one game left in the regular season, the Lakers control their own fate with a win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday sealing the deal for Los Angeles clinching the eighth seed in the West. Also, a loss by the Utah Jazz against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday will clinch the final seed for the Lakers.
