Kobe BryantFor most of the off-season, Kobe Bryant has maintained that he was targeting opening night for his return after undergoing surgery for his torn Achilles.

However, on ESPN Radio 710 with John Ireland and Mike Trudell, Kobe seems to have changed his tune about when he’s expecting to return:

“I’m shooting for November, December, latest- that’s my goal in my head, that’s what. I’m shooting for. I’m really, really determined about getting there. You know, I wont have any fear or any worry about the tendon rupturing again, I mean there’s nothing I can do about it, if it goes again, it goes again. But once I’m ready to go, it’s on.”

Bryant reiterated that he doesn’t have much pain and is able to walk around, but it sounds like he’s being more realistic about a return date.

Kobe’s work ethic is second-to-none and he will use the motivation by his critics that doubt his ability to come back from his injury stronger than ever.

Opening night was a stretch to begin with, but nobody questioned that he would have the ability to come back from such a severe injury in such a short period of time.

Get back soon Kobe, the Lakers need you.
