Lakers News: Lamar Odom May Be Leaning Toward Clippers

NBA: Los Angeles Clipperss-Media DayOver the past few months, the speculation has run rampant about Lamar Odom and his immediate future. The Los Angeles Lakers were linked to a potential reunion with Odom on many different occasions over the summer, but nothing came to fruition.

Recently, the two-time NBA champion was linked with the Lakers once again. Apparently, the Lakers expressed a renewed interest in bringing back the former Sixth Man of the Year and so did the Los Angeles Clippers.

Reportedly, Odom may be leaning toward re-signing with the Clippers after a meeting with head coach Doc Rivers recently according to Broderick Turner of the L.A. Times:

Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said the meeting he had with free agent Lamar Odom at the team’s practice facility Friday went well and that the organization is interested in the forward.

As of right now, the Lakers could actually use Odom to add depth to the frontcourt that leans so heavily on Jordan Hill, Pau Gasol and Chris Kaman. Although there’s been no indication on if Odom is in shape and ready to resume his NBA career, familiar scenary and a reunion with Jordan Farmar, Kobe Bryant and Gasol might be just what the doctor ordered.

Unfortunately for the storied franchise, Odom appears to no longer have interest in signing with the Lakers via Turner:

Odom has said the Clippers are the only team he would play for, according to NBA executives who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

With the recent meeting with Rivers, it would be safe to say the veteran power forward may be nearing a return. Odom signing with the Clippers or Lakers doesn’t seem to be imminent, but that may change in the coming weeks.

Although a reunion with the Lakers would make sense at this point for both the team and troubled forward, the Clippers are currently the frontrunner and may ultimately end up bringing him back once again.
