Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr. spent a lot of time in his early years with his father, former NBA player Larry Nance Sr. He grew up witnessing NBA basketball in front of his eyes, as his father spent 13 seasons with the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers. It was during this time that Nance Jr. learned a lot from his father, including an appreciation for the veterans.

Nance Jr. developed the selfless personality and appreciative manner that Lakers fans have grown accustomed to during his childhood, progressing into the professional they see at Staples Center. Last week, many fans saw that charismatic approach come full circle when a fan reconnected with Nance Jr. on Twitter. In fact, that woman was a veteran from the army, with Nance Jr. forming a pen pal relationship and delivering letters to her as a young boy:

Bianca Snow, serving in the United States military in 2003, reached out to Nance Jr. via Twitter and then received constant praise from social media, which eventually led to Nance Jr. intervening himself:

The interaction was quite the sight, as it brought back memories for Nance Jr. as a child, while selflessly taking the time to write to those that were serving in the United States military.

The letters also revealed that Nance Jr. did have a fascination with the Lakers before he would go on to become an NBA player, stating he was rooting for the Lakers in their playoff clash with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He also stated that Shaquille O’Neal was his favorite player.

At that time, Snow had no idea that Nance Jr. would go on to become the NBA player he is and just thought of the exchange as a pleasant surprise from an appreciative young boy. The heartfelt response certainly captured the attention of social media, as a pleasant exchange that certainly lifted to spirits of those reading closely.
