Denver Nuggets v Los Angeles Lakers - Game SevenMetta World Peace is known as one of the toughest, most physical players in the NBA, but off the court he has made a positive impact on hundreds of lives.

World Peace has been very active in increasing mental health awareness, and his influence in the community is surely something to applaud. The Los Angeles Lakers forward has raised quite a bit of money for his campaign and has done various fundraisers in hopes of strengthening his efforts.

Mark Medina writes that World Peace will be looking to expand his mental health campaign after his recent success.

After receiving what his publicist described as “really positive feedback,” Lakers forward Metta World Peace and the Los Angeles County Department of Health will extend their campaign through June that involved various posters and billboards featuring World Peace’s likeness throughout Los Angeles.

One of World Peace’s health initiatives included raffling his 2010 championship ring which raised $651,006. Metta also recently published his first children’s bookMetta’s Bedtime Stories.

While his future in Los Angeles with the Lakers has yet to be seen, it has to be respected and applauded that Metta is remaining to be active in generating and increasing mental health awareness.
