Lakers News: Mike Brown Admits He And Kobe ‘Got Into It’

NBA: Preseason-Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Lakers
Mike Brown had the unenviable task of following the legendary Phil Jackson as head coach of the Lakers. Despite posting a solid record in his time at the helm of the Lakers, Brown was fired only five games into last season and the team would bring in Mike D’Antoni.

Brown’s issues with former Lakers’ center Andrew Bynum were well-documented during this time and everyone remembers the fateful game where Bynum pulled up at the top of the key, launched a three-pointer, then laughed at it after he was benched by Brown.

With Brown set to return to Staples Center for the first time tonight, he spoke to reporters about his time in Los Angeles, and according to the LA Times’ Dave McMenamin, Bynum wasn’t the only player Brown got into it with:

It is no secret that Kobe Bryant can be stubborn at times, and for a new coach, that can be extremely difficult to deal with. Bryant knows what he wants to do, and that can rub a lot of people the wrong way. Even he and Phil Jackson used to get into it on a regular basis.

Coaches and players arguing is nothing new in the NBA. As long as everyone is looking towards the same goal, there are bound to be some disagreements and issues along the way. With a player like Bryant, it’s always best to listen to what he has to say.
