Less than two weeks after DeMarcus Cousins suffered a torn ACL in his left knee, an alleged audio recording of the 29-year-old issuing a threat to his ex-girlfriend emerged.

In the disturbing audio recording, Cousins allegedly said he would put a ‘bullet in (her) [expletive] head’ after she did not allow their seven-year-old son to attend his wedding.

The NBA and Los Angeles Lakers said they were ‘investigating the allegations’ in separate statements.

And now, the Mobile Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Cousins, according to AJ Perez of USA Today:

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Cousins is facing a misdemeanor domestic violence charge:

Mobile police spokesperson Charlette M. Solis told USA TODAY Sports on Thursday that “an arrest warrant has been issued.” The third-degree harassing communications charge was listed on the Mobile municipal court website, although no other information was provided.

After two significant injuries with the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors over two seasons, Cousins signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Lakers.

While there was great optimism Cousins could return to All-Star form, the recent injury and allegations from his ex-girlfriend is obviously an unfortunate turn of events.

More details as it becomes available.
