Pau Gasol 11 12 13Following the loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night, the biggest concerns for the Los Angeles Lakers were the injuries suffered by Pau Gasol and Jordan Farmar.

After the game, Gasol underwent an MRI to determine the severity of the ankle sprain. Fortunately for Gasol, the results of the MRI only indicated a mile sprain according to Mark Median of the L.A. Daily News via Twitter:

With the Lakers seemingly hitting their stride as of late, the losses of Gasol and Farmar would potentially prove to be costly. Although Farmar will miss the next four weeks with a hamstring tear, Gasol likely won’t miss much time if any with the ankle sprain.

Ironically enough, Steve Nash will return to practice this week and may be able to return sooner than later helping lessen the blow of Farmar missing the next month. Kobe Bryant also may make his return on Friday against the Sacramento Kings, helping shoulder the load in the backcourt.

As for Gasol, head coach Mike D’Antoni could limit his minutes while giving Robert Sacre and Chris Kaman a boost in playing time.
