One of the biggest resurrection stories of this NBA season has been Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young. A player that many thought would be moved before the season, Young has enjoyed a career year for the Lakers this season as one of the best shooters in the league.
Young has been red-hot from three-point range this season and now he has been rewarded as the Lakers announced Young has been named a participant for the Three Point Contest during NBA All-Star Weekend:
“Lakers forward/guard Nick Young has been selected to participate in the 2017 JBL Three-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend in New Orleans, it was announced today. Young is the third Laker in franchise history to be selected to participate in the Three-Point Contest, joining Michael Cooper (1987) and Byron Scott (1987 and 1988).”
Young will be facing some serious competition as the field is an impressive one that includes All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson among others:
“Young will make his first career appearance in the contest, where he joins Eric Gordon (Houston), Kyrie Irving (Cleveland), Kyle Lowry (Toronto), Wesley Matthews (Dallas), CJ McCollum (Portland), Klay Thompson (Golden State), and Kemba Walker (Charlotte).”
Young has been excellent from three-point range this season and he ranks in the top-10 in both three-pointers made (128) and three-point percentage (42.4).
His participation now gives the Lakers three players who will be busy during All-Star Weekend as both D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram will be in the Rising Stars Challenge.
