In an interview with Marca.com, Pau hopes that the Lakers will offer him a contract that meets his standards:

I’m not ruling anything out, of course, I hope the Lakers will make an offer, one that is good enough for me to consider, but I’m open to any offers that I would consider interesting and motivating for my present and my future.

Having said that, Gasol talked about his interest to play with his brother in Memphis and explains that the Clippers would be a hard option to consider:

The city of Memphis attracts me because it’s a city I know, there’s an opportunity of playing with my brother and they have a solid team. Going to the Clippers would be very difficult for me because they’re our neighbors and there’s a very strong rivalry there. So it would be very difficult for me to consider that as a real option.

Later in the interview, Pau spoke briefly about he Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs. With the Bulls, the return of Derrick Rose and the possible addition of fellow Spaniard Nikola Mirotic was also another alternative for the seven-footer.

As for the Spurs, Pau talks about how San Antonio would be a very good option based on how great the team roster looks led by Greg Popovich as the head coach.

It’s still uncertain, but Gasol did say that he really has no first or second option in free agency not too long ago. Having said that, the two-time NBA champion also called the resignation of Mike D’Antoni another factor in his decision this summer.

Keeping Pau Gasol as a priority during free agency, the Lakers will try to persuade Gasol to return with a high draft pick in June and ample cap space to spend in July.
