Lakers News: Pau Gasol To Have MRI On Ankle Monday

Sunday was not a good day for the Lakers. Despite putting forth a valiant effort to comeback, the Lakers fell to the Blazers 114-108. In the first quarter of tonight’s game, the Lakers lost Jordan Farmar to a strained hamstring and now comes news that Pau Gasol will need an MRI performed on his ankle.

Gasol suffered the sprain in Friday’s win over the Detroit Pistons and even though he played tonight, he was a lackluster 3-15 from the floor, scoring only six points to go along with five rebounds in 25 minutes.

The good news for Gasol, and the Lakers, is that the team is off until Friday when they travel to Sacramento to play the Kings. This is still a worry, however, especially with Gasol struggling with injuries all of last season. If the Lakers are to contend this season, they will need the entire team contributing, and Gasol is one of the most important pieces.

If Gasol has to miss time, we may see Chris Kaman return to the rotation. Gasol is averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds this season for the Lakers.
