Jerry Buss Honored With A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of FameLamar Odom, although set on returning to the Lakers, is dwindling farther and farther back on the Lakers “interested” list. This time around, the Lakers have expressed interest in Anthony Tolliver. Watch out though; Charlotte, Utah, and Chicago are also interested in the power forward. He has received a contract offer for the veteran’s minimum from Charlotte and hopes to make his decision before he goes on vacation.

Jeanie Buss is outspoken and decided to make a jab in a recent interview about an offseason move by the Lakers that she didn’t quite agree with: those Dwight Howard billboards. When asked about the billboards, Buss believes it likely wasn’t the ideal thing to do:

“Putting up a billboard was maybe not the right thing, but we have to learn to do things differently because Dr. Buss isn’t here.”

I think a lot of fans were unhappy with the billboard decision. It’s refreshing to hear a member of the Buss family speak so candidly about how the organization is operating. One thing is for sure; Jeanie is committed to working with her brother to continue on the strong tradition of this franchise.

“This is the way my Dad set it up and this is the system we are trying to make work.”

Well said, Jeanie. Dr. Buss will continue to be a driving force throughout this season. The franchise is preparing to honor the late Dr. Jerry Buss with a memorial game that will be played on January 28 against the Indiana Pacers.

The Los Angeles Lakers will play in China as part of the NBA’s “Global Games 2013″ during the preseason as the league tries to expand its reach in Asia. The Lakers will plan in two games against the Golden State Warriors in Beijing and Shanghai. The first matchup will take place at the MasterCard Center on Oct. 15, and the other game will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai on Oct. 18. Tickets for these games are reportedly available now.

The Lakers’ only pick in this year’s NBA Draft, Ryan Kelly, took his rookie photos, and they are awesome! Ryan is looking good in purple and gold and will be the eighth player to be sport the #4. Check them out here.
