Lakers News & Rumors Recap: Kurt Rambis Equals Defense

wolf0414coverKurt Rambis is probably the most exciting hire this summer because of what he brings on the defensive end. Rambis spent many years as an assistant under Phil Jackson, and his main focus was on defense. Hopefully, Kurt brings the same level of expertise to D’Antoni’s system. Even more so, Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant need special attention; neither players defensive skills are stellar.

The Lakers may have lost Dwight’s defensive skills, but they acquired Rambis’ defensive philosophies. Lakers fans can be confident that this upcoming season will be met with a different kind of defensive talent.

Check out the Lakers Nation roundtable for today, where there team discusses who will get the last roster spot. Suki Thind makes the bold Lamar Odom guess, one riddled with controversy as the aging big man seems to be more in love with the Lakers then they are with him. Ryan Ward claims Marcus Landry is the best bet, while Ramneet Singh joins the LO bandwagon. Lastly, Elizabeth Benson gives the vote for Landry. Make sure to see the reasons why, but also give us your opinion! If you think you know who’s going to suit up in purple and gold, either leave a comment below or head on over to our Forum to tell us your opinion.

Paul Gasol is an ambassador for UNICEF and travels around the world to promote child survival and development. This past week, Gasol visited Iraq to help thousands of refugees who have fled from the violence in Syria. Here’s the video of Gasol’s visit to Iraq, courtesy of UNICEF.
