Lakers News & Rumors Recap: Lakers Shopping For a Point Guard?

With 13 losses in the first 22 games of the 2012-13 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers are desperately seeking a solution for their problems under new head coach Mike D’Antoni. Regardless of the adjusts and all the injuries this team has been battling through, D’Antoni can’t seem to right the ship after taking over for the recently fired Mike Brown.

In the aftermath of the loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, the flood gates have officially opened with Lakers fans still expressing their frustrations about the team not hiring Phil Jackson over D’Antoni and the Lakers’ front office actively pursuing help at the point guard position while Steve Nash continues to recover from the leg fracture injury that has kept him off the floor for the last 20 games.

It remains uncertain at this point in time which direction the Lakers’ front office will decide to go in with talk of free-agent combo guard Delonte West atop a short list of candidates to help fill the void in the backcourt, but a trade might not be completely out of the question with GM Mitch Kupchak likely exploring all possibilities to improve this team now rather than waiting for Nash’s return.

If the team can’t find a way to turn it around in the coming weeks, the trade rumors surrounding the Lakers will almost certainly kick into high gear heading towards the NBA’s deadline on February 21 of next year.
